Voucher

Your Mid-Wales Woodturners Experience Day Voucher gives you free entry to a choice of a Hands-On Day or a Demonstration Day.

Note: Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The adult will also require a voucher or pay the standard entry fee at the door. The minimum age for a Hands-On experience is 12 years, but please note any child would need sufficient height and build for the lathe. We reserve the right to refuse a Hands-On experience if it is felt that it would not be safe.

Hands-On Day

A Hands-On Day gives you the opportunity to try woodturning under the supervision of an experience club member. Our aim is for you to turn a item to take home which will give you about an hour on a lathe. Depending on demand, you might be able to try out more turning. During the rest of the day you will be able to see various items being turned and skills being learnt by other participants, both beginners and more advanced turners. By the end of the day you will have experienced what woodturning is all about.

You are advised to book a Hands-On session on the lathe in advance. You are welcome to just show up on the day, but we might not be able to guarantee that there is a lathe available. Email: chairman@midwaleswoodturners.co.uk giving your name, the date you wish to attend, and whether you have any previous experience on a woodturning lathe.

Demonstration Day

Demonstration Day: A Demonstration Day gives you the opportunity to experience a professional turner showing us how to make items and how to develop our skills. Demonstrators are highly skilled and will give you a good idea of the variety of items you can make in woodturning. You don’t need to book, just show up at the door with your voucher for free entry.

We also have hybrid meetings which combine a demonstration by an experienced club member followed by a Hands-On session. These are usually advertised as Club Demonstration days in the Calendar. You are also welcome to attend one of these, and you can book a slot on one of the lathes in advance as for the Hands-On Days. We don’t recommend you attend the AGM meeting.
